The north of Bali is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the holidays – an escape from crowds and throng of the busy parts of southern Bali. I was born in northern Bali and know ALL the best places. North Bali is quiet & peaceful, with beautiful beaches and great places to do snorkeling, diving or dolphin watching. We also have serene hills in the distance, rice terraces, local markets, authentic warungs and restaurants … even some spectacular waterfalls that only locals know about.
Look at some of the things I can show you and tell me what you want to see.
Lovina is one interesting place in north Bali. We can watching dolphins playing in the waves in the morning at Lovina beach. You can walk on the exotic black sand beach … perhaps have a massage near the beach while watching the sunset in the evening. It will make your holiday very relaxing and enjoyable. Lovina has a lot of restaurants and places to shop.
Banjar Hot Springs
This is a spectacular waterfall with little shops along the way to the falls themselves. You can browse the souvenirs or just enjoy the walk to the bottom of the impressive, thundering falls. Be sure and wear good walking shoes for this!
How would you like to be able to enjoy dishes like nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice), mie goreng (Indonesian fried noodles), ayam (chicken) satays, or ikan bakar (barbequed fish) back at home? How about sharing your Indonesian experience by creating an authentic Indonesian meal? I have an excellent cook and instructor that you can meet and we will have a fun afternoon or evening, learning about how to create delicious dishes. We can even go to local markets beforehand to pick your own ingredients.
This is a souvenir of a new skill … and you get to have a meal at the end.
Aling Aling Waterfalls
A much quieter and more meditative spot. Balinese have many gods and spirits and this place is visited by many of them. You can come here to meditate, relax or just wonder at the power of the cascading water.
The temple has beautiful stone carvings – many adorned with wreaths and offerings. Locals come here for blessings from the Buddhist priest. All are welcome, but you may need a sarong for your shoulders or legs (men, too). I can provide a loaner if you don’t have one.
Menjangan Island is a perfect place in Bali to do diving & snorkelling with great coral reefs and beautiful sea life. I can you get you there. You won’t believe how much you can see with just a mask and snorkel!
If you want a break from the heat, I’ll take you into the terraced rice paddies and hills. We can visit some local waterfalls, have lunch at a local warung (small restaurant) where you will have some of the tastiest food of your trip! Not all of Bali is manic – there are lovely, tranquil places that I can show you.
Learn Bali Traditional Music (Gamelan)
I know local musicians who can introduce you to the gamelan, one of the traditional and distinct instruments of Bali. Listening to it is soothing. Playing it is transforming. I can bring you to an excellent gamelan player and he can show you how.
